Why we're building it

Your guests think in dollars. Your gateway only speaks rand.

Most of the people booking your tours are international. They want to pay in dollars, euros or pounds, with the card or wallet they already use. Most operators can only charge in one local currency through one gateway, and send everyone else a bank transfer.

So foreign guests drop off at checkout. The ones who do pay lose you a slice of every booking to card fees, FX spreads and slow international wires. And at month end someone matches payments from three places by hand.

Zuru Orchestration lets every guest pay their way, and pays you in yours.

Guests see your price and pay in the currency they think in. You don't open a single foreign account.

Workflow

How it works.

From a guest's card abroad to rand, shillings or rupees in your bank, in four steps.

  1. 01

    Guest picks a currency

At checkout, or on a quote or proposal, your guest sees the price in their own currency, whether that's dollars, euros, pounds or local money.

    USD · EUR · GBP · ZAR · KES · MUR
  2. 02

    They pay their way

Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, M-Pesa or a local method. Whatever they already use, on the same Zuru checkout.

    Cards, wallets & mobile money
  3. 03

    Zuru routes the payment

Each payment goes to the route that collects it at the lowest cost for that currency. If a card is declined, Zuru can retry it on another route.

    Automatic, behind the scenes
  4. 04

    You get paid locally

The exchange rate is fixed and recorded on the booking, and you are settled in your home currency to your bank account.

Features

Payments that run themselves.

Zuru handles the currencies, the routing and the conversion. You run the tours.

  • One integration, no gateways

No merchant accounts to open per currency and no gateway credentials to manage. Payments run through Zuru from the day you switch it on.

  • Smart routing and retries

Every payment takes the best-value route for its currency and card. A declined foreign card can be retried on another route instead of losing the booking.

  • Rate locked per booking

The exchange rate is fixed when the guest pays and recorded on the booking, so you know exactly what you will receive.

  • Local settlement

Get paid in your home currency to your local bank account, with M-Pesa payouts available in Kenya.

  • Built into how you sell

Works on your booking page, the Zuru marketplace, quotes and proposals, including deposits and balance payments.

  • Every payment in one view

See what each guest paid, in what currency, and what you were settled, alongside the booking. No more matching statements by hand.

What is Zuru Orchestration?
Zuru Orchestration is Zuru's built-in payments layer. It lets your guests pay in multiple currencies and with multiple payment methods, routes each payment the best-value way, and settles you in your home currency.
Which currencies can my guests pay in?
US dollars, euros, British pounds, South African rand and Kenyan shillings, with Mauritian rupees to follow. You are settled in your home currency whichever one the guest uses.
Which payment methods are supported?
Visa and Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay, M-Pesa in Kenya, and local methods in South Africa. We will keep adding methods as we roll out to more countries.
Do I need my own payment gateway?
No. Orchestration replaces the need to open and manage your own gateway or foreign currency accounts. If you prefer to keep your existing gateway connected to Zuru, you can.
How and when do I get paid?
You are paid in your home currency to your local bank account, or to M-Pesa in Kenya. The exchange rate is fixed and recorded on each booking, so you always know what you will receive.
When will it be available?
Zuru Orchestration is coming soon, starting with operators in South Africa, then Kenya and Mauritius. Book a call to join early access and we will let you know as soon as it is ready for you.
What will it cost?
We will share pricing before launch. It will be a transparent fee on the payments we process, separate from your Zuru plan.
